The Breaking News: Setting up the Blog page
If the sidebar widget area is empty, your blog will have a full width layout. The theme also provides an option to select a layout for your blog β you can either have a one column layout or a two columns layout.
One column layout with an active sidebar
By default, the theme displays a one column layout in archive views (which also includes the blog page). If the widgets are added to the sidebar widget area then it will make the sidebar active and it will be shown on one side, while the posts will be shown on the other side.
Two columns layout with an active sidebar
It is also possible to change the layout of your blog and to display posts in two columns along with a sidebar.
There is a case when the sidebar will be hidden in archive view even if there are widgets in the sidebar widget area. It will happen when the Featured Image orientation is set to Portrait (vertical). The sidebar is hidden in this case because of the limited space in the content area.
One column layout with an inactive sidebar
If the sidebar widget area does not contain any widgets then the sidebar will be not shown on your site. In this case, the blog (and other pages) will have a full width layout.
Two columns layout with an inactive sidebar
If a two columns layout is selected and the sidebar is inactive then your blog page will display only posts in a two columns layout.
