Changing a page template

Themes might include additional templates for static pages on your WordPress site. These templates usually add certain features or layouts to a normal page when used.

In this article, you'll learn the process of changing a page template on your site using a native WordPress functionality.

You can see if your current theme has any additional templates by checking the Template section of the Page Attributes module which is located on the page editing screen.

Block Editor

  1. Go to Dashboard → Pages.
  2. Choose a specific page to edit.
  3. On the right of your screen, under Document settings, look for the Page Attributes module.
  4. Select a Template from the list.
  5. Click the Update button (or Publish if not yet published).

Classic Editor

  1. Go to Dashboard → Pages.
  2. Choose a specific page to edit.
  3. On the right of your screen look for the Page Attributes module.
  4. Select a Template from the list.
  5. Click the Update button (or Publish if not yet published).
